The Pharmaceutical industry in Nigeria is highly regulated by government agencies, the capacity to successfully deal with these agencies within the professional and legal framework is critical for success in this market. The main agencies in Nigeria are:
- National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) which has the mandate to regulate and control the manufacture, importation, exportation, distribution, advertising, sales and use of Food, Drugs, Cosmetic, Medical Devices, Chemicals, Packaged Water and other drinks
- Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) which has the mandate to register and regulate the pharmaceutical premises including pharmaceutical factories, and the practice of pharmacy
- Other agencies of the Ministries of Health, Environment, Commerce and Industries, Finance are also responsible for various aspect of regulating the business practice in Nigeria
